info: designers

Whether you're a well established designer, or a fledging newbie, we want to hear from you. You can send in as many submissions as you like, at any time of year. We are looking for a wide variety of projects - more details can be found below, with suggestions to help spark creativity, and to assist with the overall theme of the issue. We are open to other ideas though.

When you have settled on your design, please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , writing 'SUBMISSION' and the issue you are submitting for in the reference field.

Be sure to include the following:

  • Sketches of the design (or photos of the finished project, if already worked up!);

  • Schematic (or at least an idea of the size range);

  • Photos of swatches (within reason!);

  • Techniques used;

  • Possible yarn options (and colours);

  • Any additional information relevant to the design.

    Please do not send in fully written patterns.

Submissions are usually looked at in batches - this ensures that we can make a decision based on the feel of the magazine, and how well the projects sit together in terms of skill level and price. We may not, therefore, get back to you with a decision straight away - but we will let you know either way. If you have any queries regarding the next submissions review, please contact us.

If you would like to be added to the Designer Call Out emails so we can send you the call out direct to your inbox, please email us at lovecrochetmag@gmail, writing 'Designer Call Out' in the heading and we'll be in touch!

PAYMENT

Designers who are commissioned are offered a percentage of each pattern sold or a one-off fee. They retain the rights to the pattern, can use the tech edited pattern, photography and layout if they want - and we will discuss the price structure before publishing. We do not want to under (or over) price your work - if we pitch it just right, we can maximise your sales.

YARN SUPPORT

We will try to get yarn support in the yarn requested. This may not always be possible, in which case we will endeavour to find an appropriate alternative.
